Family wedding coming up? What to wear to each function
By the Mukesh Garments team · · Updated · 4 min read
From the haldi to the reception — a function-by-function guide so you're never over- or under-dressed.
A family wedding often means four or five functions in three days. Planning by function — rather than buying one big outfit — keeps things simple.
Haldi
Yellow, of course — but make it washable. Cotton or mul-cotton suits and kurtas are perfect; turmeric stains are part of the fun.
Mehndi and sangeet
Bright colours, lighter fabrics and something you can dance in. A flared kurti or a light lehenga works well; men can try a printed or coloured kurta.
The wedding day
This is the time for your best piece — rich colours, zari or embroidery. If you're close family, coordinate with the household's colour plan.
Reception
Often a little more contemporary. A crop top with a flared skirt, a gown-style suit, or a bandhgala or blazer for men.
Tip
Ask us to show you complete looks — dupatta, jacket and all — so you can see how an outfit comes together before you decide.
